Vitamin D and Breast Cancer

Autophagy 3:4, 381-383; July/August 2007]; 2007 Landes Bioscience Addendum AMP-Activated Protein Kinase A Universal Regulator of Autophagy?
Maria Hyer-Hansen Marja Ja?a?ttela?*

The active form of vitamin D or its synthetic analogue EB1089 induce caspase- independent cell death in breast cancer cells.1

This death pathway is mediated by a slow release of Ca2+ from the endoplasmic reticulum to the cytosol, and autophagy.2
